27 participants from 8 countries will be showcasing socially relevant issues and the solutions they will implement soon after they complete their training at kanthari. Through the event, they also intend to inspire the people of Kerala to be the change they want to see in their communities.

Spread the Spice focuses on different themes to build community solutions:

Alternative Education: Can education happen only through our mainstream system or are there any other ways to learn? How can we look at alternatives?

Gender and Human Rights: In today’s society, do we see gender equality, tolerance towards LGBTQI community, peace building and conflict management? If we don’t, what can we do about it to?

Disability: What is disability? Can we create an inclusive society? How can our words and actions be non-discriminating?

Environment/Disaster Management: Are we really concerned about our environment? What are we doing to conserve the world we live in? How do our actions impact the environment around us?

Mental Health: What does it really mean to be mentally well? Why do taboos exist around talking about depression, anxiety, and suicides? What could be done to address such issues in our society?

Our goal is to bring these questions to the public and make them think about what they can do or how they can participate in building solutions with their own communities. This is done through fun and creative activities, games, workshops, music, and food.

In addition to this, there will be a display and sale of different products and services in the fields of waste to value, cosmetics and grooming, food, and animal husbandry. The aim is to make visitors question their consuming habits and provide eco-friendly, harmful chemicals free, and nutritious alternatives to already existing products in the market.

kanthari participants are change makers from all over the world who have overcome adversities and now want to use that as a strength to transform the social challenges across the world.

The event is a space of collaboration, visibility, engagement and participation between kanthari’s social visionaries, organisations in the social sector, government officials and the public.
