kanthari graduation 2013

“Be catalysts for social transformation”, says KR Jyothilal IAS at the 2013 kanthari graduation ceremony.

“In the current society, overload of information is ‘killing’ people, instead of ‘skilling’ them”, said KR Jyothilal IAS, secretary, General administration, Government of Kerala. He was speaking at the fifth kanthari graduation ceremony.
He pointed out that kanthari is playing a unique role in identifying and developing the creative and intrinsic talents of individuals and eqipping them to contribute towards ethical social change.
N krishnawamy, Founder chairman, Vidyavrisha, Channai, PB Sajan, Joint Director, Costford, and kanthari co-founders Sabriye Tenberken and Paul Kronenberg addressed the gathering.
21 visionaries from 12 countries who completed the seven month long kanthari leadership training course received certificates.

Prior to the graduation event, on the 9th, 10th and 11th of December, participants delivered the so called kanthari Dream Speeches.
On Monday the 9th December, participants from Nigeria, Liberia, Uganda, Zimbabwe and India shared their ideas about social advocacy.
On Tuesday 10th December, participants from Uganda, Philippines, Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria and India spoke about their grassroot initiatives that will address the needs of those who are marginalized by society. On Wednesday the 11th December, participants from Zambia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Poland and India spoke about their plans to use social entrepreneurship to create ethical social change.

The seven month leadership program conducted by kanthari is geared specially for people with big dreams and passions: people who have overcome difficult times; people who want to help others in their struggles, or develop solutions to today’s problems. The training program provides the participants with basic skills such as public speaking, structured thinking and writing, project proposal writing, fund raising, project planning and management, skills including that of media, social campaigning and fund raising and equips them to start their dream projects back in their respective countries and communities.

We wish all the graduates good luck with the realisation of their projects.
